JUNE PLAYLIST FOR PAID SUBSCRIBERS INCLUDED AT THE END XO.
Dearest Reader,
I’m back home, catching up on sleep and grateful for an amazing run out West. Thank you for coming out and being so present and beautiful. I want to show you lovely photos of meals we shared and drinks we had, but there’s something I want to say first.
On this run I brought Precious Cargo back into the fold, a song off of my last album LIFE ON EARTH. I’ve mentioned it before on here, but worth reminding you I wrote it after volunteering with LA AID in 2019-2020. Precious Cargo details a blended version of the tales of two men I visited in Immigrant Detention in Louisiana. Once we were able to secure them legal representation and they were released, the men encouraged me to tell the world their stories. Whenever I play this song I feel a particular nervousness, because it is sacred to me, and my protection of this song and the contents is fierce.
Each night we played it I felt a welcomed fury in me, a bubbling of feeling reminding me I have not yet been completely desensitized by the cruelty of these times. I thought about the children forced to represent themselves in court, and the parents torn from their families, all the refugee people fleeing deadly situations in their homelands. ICE raids are increasing across the country, and the tactics grow increasingly violent and terrorizing in schools, Immigration courts, and work places.
When I see video of an elderly Latina woman pulled out of her car on a traffic stop, as her daughter cries in the passenger seat, I cannot help but see my family. Puerto Ricans have citizenship, but I never want that to delude myself into thinking this is not my fight as well. The scapegoating against Immigrant people must end, the lawless actions of ICE and this current administration must end. I am thinking of you and me and all of our relatives, as I hope we bravely continue to demand Immigrant Rights in this country.
We will be back out on the road very soon, traveling with the great Greg Mendez (Dates marked with #) I hope to see you out there.

Food I loved:

Very fun hang with the gang at Office Hours! I’d like more gigs where I get to laugh for an hour.

We ended the tour in Phoenix, AZ and had really fun celebratory drinks at Quartz right across the street from the venue. Not included here are photos of our late night hot dogs. :)

Finally we have been watching this clip non stop and now randomly scream CASH GRAB at each other.
love you, stay strong and
don’t take any shit!!!!
